For many children seeking a Big Brother or Big Sister here in Santa Cruz, their present circumstances are challenging. Nearly 71% are living with just one parent in the home, and 79% are living in poverty.

These children are at risk. Nationally, they comprise 90% of runaway and homeless youth; 71% of high school drop-outs; and 70% of imprisoned minors.
